Presents

The 2nd Annual

Raleigh-Frayser-Cordova Town Hall Meeting

(Focus on Community Assets and Partnerships)

You are invited to the 2nd Annual Raleigh-Frayser-Cordova Town Hall Meeting sponsored by ABetterMemphis.com, Antonio '2 Shay' Parkinson and Bennita Wade Insurance Agency (Nationwide Insurance).  Last year our focus was "Crime and Solutions" (Click here for video).  In keeping with our "solution oriented" approach, this year's focus will be "Economic Development through Community Assets and Partnerships".  During last year's meeting, we delivered tangibles to citizens that could be utilized in the fight against crime.  We are happy to say, crime is reduced. Therefore, this year's tagline is "Crime is down, where do we go from here?"

At this year's town hall meeting, we will convey the idea of building on the assets that we as a community possess, creating partnerships and assisting them to become better and vice versa, versus that of focusing on our limitations.  Some of the assets identified in our community include, but are not limited to:

        Nike

        The Citizens

        Southwest Community College

        Memphis City Schools

        Methodist North Hospital

        I-40

        Memphis Motorsports Park

        Churches

        Old Allen Station (North Precinct)

        Raleigh Springs Mall

        Community Associations,

        and more...

Confirmed panelists include:

Steve Lockwood - Frayser Community Development Corporation

Bridgette Wilson - Raleigh Springs Mall

Shaun Essex - Methodist North Hospital

Joe Hunter - Uncle Joe G.A.N.G. Inc.

        Ulysses Jones - State Representative

        Larry Miller - State Representative

Gloria Crenshaw - North Precinct (Old Allen Station Commander)

Pat Anderson - Southwest Community College

Janis Fullilove - Memphis City Council

Oscar Love - Raleigh Egypt High School

        Members of the County Commission

        ...more panelists are being added.

Last year approximately 300 people attended the meeting.  We are expecting a larger crowd this year.  In the first year we were honored to have Mayor A C Wharton as our guest speaker.  This year we are honored to have Mayor W. W. Herenton as our special guest speaker.  Other participating organizations are Methodist North Hospital, City of Memphis, Memphis City Council, Shelby County Board of Commissioners, State of Tennessee and others.

The event is March 13, 2008 at 7:00 PM.  The location is Breath of Life Christian Center located at 3795 Frayser Raleigh Road @ Hawkins Mill.   Please email abettermemphis@aol.com or call Antonio '2 Shay' Parkinson with your confirmation at 901-372-8925.  We appreciate your consideration and participation in this most worthy event.
